Modern Warfare 4 PC System Requirements: Can You Run It?
Modern Warfare 4 PC System Requirements: Can You Run It?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on PC on October 23, 2026, on Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox PC app. The good news: the minimum specs are low, and a GTX 1060-class PC can start it. The catch: you need TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot turned on, an SSD with 115 GB free, and a processor with AVX. Here are the official requirements, what they mean for your FPS, and how to check your PC in one click.

Quick answer: the minimum is a GTX 970 / GTX 1060 / RX 470 with a Ryzen 5 1400 or Core i5-6600 and 8 GB of RAM. The recommended specs for 90 FPS on High in multiplayer are an RTX 3060 Ti / RX 6600 XT / Arc B580 with a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700K and 16 GB of RAM. Every tier needs 115 GB on an SSD, and TPM 2.0 + Secure Boot to play.

  • A processor with AVX support: every Ryzen and almost every Intel Core chip has it, but some older Pentium and Celeron chips don't.
  • Resizable BAR on Intel Arc graphics cards.
  • Extra free space for updates, which Call of Duty releases often.

How many FPS will you get?

Estimates from our FPS Estimator, anchored on Activision's target of 90 FPS on High for the recommended specs (multiplayer, 1080p, no upscaling):

Your PC Low Medium High High at 1440p
GTX 1060 + Core i5-6600 ~73 ~60 ~47 ~32
RTX 3060 Ti + Ryzen 5 3600 ~113 ~99 ~90 ~69

These are estimates before launch, not benchmarks. Turn on upscaling and you get more: Modern Warfare 4 supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone and Intel XeSS 3. In big multiplayer modes, the processor often sets the limit at 1080p; our guide CPU Bottleneck Explained shows how to tell.

TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot: required to play

The RICOCHET anti-cheat checks for TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, and blocks online play without them. Most PCs from 2018 onward support both, but many have them turned off. Check before launch day:

  1. TPM: press Win + R, type tpm.msc and press Enter. You should see "The TPM is ready for use" and Specification Version: 2.0.
  2. Secure Boot: press Win + R, type msinfo32. In System Summary, Secure Boot State should say On.

If either one is off, restart into the BIOS (usually Del or F2 at startup):

  • TPM is called fTPM on AMD boards and PTT (Platform Trust Technology) on Intel boards. Enable it.
  • Secure Boot is usually under Boot or Security. It only works when CSM / Legacy boot is off.

Careful: if Windows was installed in Legacy/MBR mode, turning off CSM stops it from starting. Windows can convert the drive to GPT with the built-in mbr2gpt tool, but back up your files first and follow your motherboard maker's guide. If you are not sure, ask someone who has done it.

Storage: 115 GB on an SSD

Activision lists an SSD as required, not just recommended. On a hard drive, maps load slowly and the game can stutter while it streams textures. Plan for more than 115 GB: Call of Duty updates are large and frequent. To check what kind of drive you have, open Task Manager > Performance: each disk shows SSD or HDD.

Drivers to install before launch

Activision recommends these driver versions (or newer):

  • NVIDIA: 616.56, with an updated driver for the game due on October 21
  • AMD: 26.7.1
  • Intel Arc: 32.0.101.8974

Install the newest one from the NVIDIA app, AMD Software or Intel Graphics Software on launch week.

Release date and platforms

  • Full release: October 23, 2026, on Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox PC app, according to Activision. Steam's store page lists October 22, so the exact unlock time depends on your time zone.
  • Preload for digital pre-orders started on October 15, and the campaign early access on October 16.
