Connect a PS5, PS4, Xbox or Switch Pro controller, press any button and see every input live. Test vibration, check stick drift and draw the circle of each stick.
The diagram uses the standard layout. Press a button and it lights up.
Put the controller down and do not touch the sticks. We record their resting position for 3 seconds.
Press start and turn both sticks slowly around their outer edge for 10 seconds. A healthy stick draws a smooth circle.
Slow or low FPS in games is a different problem from a controller issue. To see whether your PC or your controller is the cause, check your estimated FPS or run the Bottleneck Calculator.
Browsers only show a controller after you press a button on it, so press any button first. If it still does not appear: make sure it is connected by USB or Bluetooth, close apps that may be using it (Steam, Xbox Accessories, DS4Windows), try another USB port or cable, and restart your browser. Chrome and Edge give the most reliable results.
Yes. Any controller your browser can see works, including the PS5 DualSense and DualSense Edge, the PS4 DualShock 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers, and the Switch Pro Controller. The tester recognises them and shows the right button names. Other gamepads and joysticks work too, with generic button names.
Put the controller down so nobody touches the sticks, then press "Run drift test". The tool records the resting position of both sticks for 3 seconds. A healthy stick rests very close to zero. If a stick rests away from the centre, it is drifting, and the result tells you how big the drift is and what deadzone would hide it.
A deadzone is a small area around the centre of a stick where input is ignored. Games use it so tiny drift does not move your character or camera. If your stick drifts, a bigger deadzone in the game settings is the quickest workaround, but it also makes the stick less precise near the centre.
You turn each stick slowly around its outer edge, and the tool draws the path. A healthy stick draws a smooth, even circle. A flat spot, a dent or a path that does not reach the edge on one side can mean wear or a damaged stick gate.
First blow out dust around the stick base and clean it with a little isopropyl alcohol while moving the stick. Then update the controller firmware, recalibrate it, and raise the in-game deadzone. If the drift stays, the stick module is worn: replace it, or use the warranty if the controller is still covered.
Vibration works in Chrome and Edge for most controllers over USB or Bluetooth. Firefox and Safari do not support it for most controllers. If nothing happens, try a USB cable, or test the same controller in a game.
No controller data is sent to our servers. The test reads your controller in your browser, and the results stay on this page. Like the rest of FpsGen, the page loads standard site analytics.
