What the requirements mean for your PC

The processor matters more than you think

ARPGs like Path of Exile 2 fill the screen with monsters, effects and loot, especially in late-game maps. That work falls on your processor. The minimum asks for a 4-core i7-7700, and the recommended for an 8-core Ryzen 7 3700X. If your FPS drops in big fights while your graphics card is not at 100%, your processor is the limit. Check it with our Bottleneck Calculator.

The graphics card is easy

A GTX 960 is from 2015, so almost any gaming PC meets the minimum. For the recommended RTX 2060, any RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RX 6600 or newer is enough.

Your graphics card Expected result
GTX 750 Ti, GTX 1050 (2 GB) Below the minimum (less than 3 GB of video memory)
GTX 960 / 970, GTX 1050 Ti, RX 470 / 570 Minimum, 1080p low
GTX 1660 Super, RX 580 / 590, GTX 1070 Between minimum and recommended
RTX 2060, RTX 3060, RTX 4060, RX 6600, Arc A770 Recommended, 1080p high
RTX 3070, RTX 4070, RX 6700 XT and newer 1440p high

These tiers are FpsGen estimates. See where your card stands in our GPU Tier List 2026.

16 GB of RAM and an SSD

8 GB is the minimum, but late-game maps with lots of effects can stutter with it: 16 GB is the real target. Install the game on an SSD: it is recommended and it makes loading between areas much faster. Read Is 16GB RAM Enough for Gaming?

100 GB of free space

That is a lot for an ARPG, and the 1.0 update with two new acts can make it bigger. Free up space before December 11 if you want to play on launch day.

Tips for better FPS in Path of Exile 2

  • Lower the effects first. Shadows, global illumination and particle effects cost the most FPS in crowded fights.
  • Use upscaling (DLSS, FSR or XeSS) on older graphics cards if your FPS drops at 1080p.
  • Cap your frame rate a little under your monitor's refresh rate to keep frame times stable.
  • Close background apps like browsers with many tabs: the game uses a lot of RAM.
