Resident Evil Veronica release date

Capcom has only given a 2027 release window so far. The Steam page lists "2027" as the planned release date, and no month or day has been announced.

In September 2026, reports said the game could slip to fall 2027 because Capcom made it bigger than first planned. The game also skipped Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show. Capcom has not confirmed any of this, so treat fall 2027 as a rumor until there is an official date.

We will update this page as soon as Capcom announces the exact release date.

Resident Evil Veronica is coming to four platforms:

Platform Confirmed
PC (Steam) Yes
PlayStation 5 Yes
Xbox Series X|S Yes

PS4 / Xbox One Not announced

On PC, the game already has a Steam page where you can add it to your wishlist. In August 2026, Capcom thanked players with new artwork after the game passed 2 million wishlists.

Is Resident Evil Veronica a remake of Code: Veronica?

Yes. Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, which first came out on the Dreamcast in 2000 and later got an HD version in 2011. In the series timeline, the story takes place between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3.

Capcom describes it as a remake that keeps the core of the original, with modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline and new graphics. Here is what we know about the team:

  • Directors: Yasuhiro Anpo and Kazunori Kadoi
  • Producer: Yoshiaki Hirabayashi
  • Engine: RE Engine, the same engine as the Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes
  • Starting point: the Resident Evil 2 remake, because the original Code: Veronica was built on the original Resident Evil 2
  • Team: includes developers from the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes, but it is a different team from Resident Evil Requiem

Story and characters

The story starts three months after the Raccoon City incident. Claire Redfield is in Paris looking for her brother Chris when Umbrella's special forces capture her. She is taken to Rockfort Island, a remote Umbrella prison that has just been hit by a new viral outbreak. Claire has to escape an island full of zombies and other creatures.

What Capcom has said about the story so far:

  • Claire's path runs parallel to Leon's, and Veronica is where the stories of both Redfield siblings meet.
  • The reveal trailer put a strong focus on Albert Wesker's return.
  • The story will be changed to fit better with the remake timeline. Capcom has not said what changes.
  • You don't need to know the original game to understand the remake.

In the original Code: Veronica, Claire meets fellow prisoner Steve Burnside, faces the Ashford twins Alfred and Alexia, and the second half of the game moves to Antarctica with Chris Redfield as a playable character. Capcom has not yet confirmed how these characters and locations will appear in the remake.

Gameplay: what changes from the original

The remake plays in third-person, with an over-the-shoulder camera like the Resident Evil 2 remake. The original used fixed camera angles.

  • No first-person mode: the first-person shots in the trailer were only there to keep the reveal a surprise. You can't switch the camera to first-person.
  • Claire plays differently from Leon in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Requiem.
  • Length: Capcom says it doesn't believe "longer is better", but promises a satisfying amount of content.
  • Feedback from recent games: the team used player feedback from the latest Resident Evil games to shape the design.

Resident Evil Veronica PC system requirements

Capcom has not published the PC requirements yet. On Steam, the CPU, graphics card and operating system all say "TBD". The only confirmed line is that the game needs a 64-bit processor and operating system.

Resident Evil Veronica uses the RE Engine like Capcom's two most recent Resident Evil games, so their official requirements give a good idea of what to expect:

Resident Evil 4 remake (2023) Resident Evil Requiem (2026)
OS Windows 10 / 11 (64-bit) Windows 11 (64-bit)
Minimum CPU Ryzen 3 1200 / Core i5-7500 Ryzen 5 3500 / Core i5-8500
Minimum GPU GTX 1050 Ti / RX 560 (4 GB) GTX 1660 (6 GB) / RX 5500 XT (8 GB)
Minimum RAM 8 GB 16 GB
Recommended CPU Ryzen 5 3600 / Core i7-8700 Ryzen 5 5500 / Core i7-8700
Recommended GPU GTX 1070 / RX 5700 RTX 2060 Super / RX 6600 (8 GB)
Recommended RAM 16 GB 16 GB

Our estimate: Resident Evil Veronica comes out in 2027, after Requiem, so its requirements will most likely be close to Requiem's: around a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT and 16 GB of RAM for the minimum, and an RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600 for smooth 1080p. This is our estimate, not official information. A 64-bit version of Windows is confirmed, and Windows 11 may be required like in Requiem.
