GTA 6 Online Release Date: What Rockstar Has Confirmed

GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, but what about the online mode? Here is everything that is confirmed, what has only been said by people outside Rockstar, and what Rockstar's past launches suggest. We update this page every time something new comes out.

Quick answer: Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 Online or any release date for it. Take-Two says it is not planning to talk about the new GTA Online soon. Twitch's CEO said he expects the multiplayer to launch in 2027, but that is his expectation, not an announcement.

What is confirmed

	Status
GTA 6 release	November 19, 2026, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
GTA 6 Online announced	No
GTA 6 Online release date	Not announced
Online at launch on November 19	Not announced
GTA 6 on PC	Not announced (a report points to early 2027)

Everything Rockstar has shown so far, from the trailers to the launch trailer of October 15, is about the story of Lucia and Jason. None of it shows or names an online mode.

What Take-Two has said

In August 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that the company is not planning to talk about what the new GTA Online will look like any time soon, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier. Schreier added that Zelnick did not give a time frame for the online mode itself.

On the same earnings call, Zelnick said Take-Two expects to keep its new scale and strong cash flow beyond the GTA 6 launch. Some fans read that as a hint at a long-term online mode, but he did not mention GTA 6 Online by name.

What Twitch's CEO said: "next year"

On September 17, 2026, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg that GTA 6 will bring a big jump in streaming, then "an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer." That points to 2027.

Two things to keep in mind:

• Clancy does not work for Rockstar or Take-Two. Bloomberg presented it as what he expects, not as a confirmed plan.
• Rockstar did not respond, and has not confirmed any date.

So 2027 is the most talked-about window right now, but it is not official.

What Rockstar's past launches tell us

Rockstar has launched online modes after the main game twice before:

Game	Story release	Online release	Gap
GTA 5 / GTA Online	September 17, 2013	October 1, 2013	2 weeks
Red Dead Redemption 2 / Red Dead Online	October 26, 2018	November 27, 2018 (beta)	About 1 month

Both times, the online mode came after the story, not on day one, and Rockstar announced it only a few months before. If GTA 6 follows the same pattern, an announcement could come close to launch or after it. If it follows Clancy's comment, it would be 2027. Neither is confirmed.

What happens to GTA Online (GTA 5)?

Rockstar has not said anything about ending GTA Online, and it is still running on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Rockstar has also not said whether your GTA Online character, money or cars will carry over to a future GTA 6 Online. Be careful with videos and posts that claim otherwise: nothing has been confirmed.

What about GTA 6 Online on PC?

There is no PC version of GTA 6 announced yet. A GamesBeat report from October 13, 2026, citing four unnamed sources, says a PC version is planned for the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar has not confirmed it. If both reports turn out to be true, PC players could get the game and its online mode around the same time, but that is a guess.
