What is Zenless Zone Zero?

Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) is an urban fantasy action RPG from HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. It launched in July 2024 and is now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android.

You play as a Proxy in New Eridu, the last big city in a world hit by dangerous rifts called Hollows. Proxies guide teams of Agents through the Hollows on commissions, while trying to uncover what is really happening to the city. Between missions, you run a small video store with your sibling, explore the streets and get to know the cast.

Why play Zenless Zone Zero on PC?

ZZZ is on phones too, but the combat is fast and the game looks its best on a computer.

Big screen, high frame rate
Sharper graphics and smoother FPS than on a phone, so you see every attack coming.
Controller or mouse and keyboard
Dodges and parries are much easier to time with real buttons than on a touchscreen.
No battery drain or heat
Long sessions and events do not drain or heat up your phone.
Runs on most gaming PCs
A GTX 970 and 8 GB of RAM are enough to start, and a GTX 1660 plays it well on High.

PC system requirements

Official specs from the Zenless Zone Zero Steam page, checked in October 2026:

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10 64-bit
Processor Intel Core i5 (7th gen) Intel Core i7 (10th gen)
Memory 8 GB 8 GB
Graphics card GeForce GTX 970 GeForce GTX 1660
DirectX Version 11 Version 11
Storage 75 GB (SSD recommended) 75 GB (SSD recommended)

What that means: any card at GTX 1060, GTX 1650 Super or RX 570 level or better works. A GTX 1660, RTX 2060, RTX 3050 or newer reaches the recommended level. On AMD processors, a Ryzen 5 1600 or newer is around the minimum.

How many FPS will you get?

Estimates from our FPS Estimator, 1080p, native resolution:

Your PC Low Medium High
GTX 1650 + Core i5-7400 ~63 ~49 ~39
GTX 970 + Core i5-7400 ~70 ~62 ~50
GTX 1660 + Ryzen 5 3600 ~96 ~76 ~60
RTX 3060 + Ryzen 5 5600 ~129 ~112 ~89
RTX 4060 + Ryzen 5 5600 ~129 ~114 ~102

These are estimates, not benchmarks: big fights with lots of effects run slower than the city streets.

Best settings for smooth combat

  • FPS: set it to your monitor's refresh rate and turn Vertical Sync off for the most responsive dodges.
  • Volumetric Fog and Mirror Reflections: turn them off first. They cost the most FPS for the least visual difference.
  • Anti-Aliasing: SMAA looks clean without a big cost.
  • Shadows, FX and Character Quality: High on a recommended-level PC, Medium on a GTX 970 or GTX 1650.
  • On a laptop: plug in the charger and set the game to High performance in Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
  • Drivers: update from the NVIDIA app or AMD Software before your first session.

To see your frame rate while you play, follow How to Show FPS in Games. More fixes are in How to Increase FPS on PC.

Beginner tips

  1. Learn to dodge first. A perfectly timed dodge opens a powerful dodge counter. It is the most important skill in the game.
  2. Switch Agents often. Switching at the right moment triggers powerful assist attacks and chain attacks, and keeps every Agent's skills in play.
  3. Build teams around attributes and roles. Each Agent has an attribute (like Fire, Ice or Electric) and a role (like Attack, Stun, Anomaly or Support). A Stun Agent plus damage dealers is a strong start.
  4. Follow the main story. It unlocks new modes, features and rewards, and teaches the systems one at a time.
  5. Do not rush your premium currency. Save it for the Agents you really want instead of spending it the moment you get it.
