FC 27 Not Launching or Crashing on PC: How to Fix It

FC 27 closing right after the anticheat screen, crashing to desktop with no error, or freezing in the middle of a match? You are not alone: the EA forums are full of PC players with the same problems. Most of them come down to a few causes: EA Javelin anticheat, a program that conflicts with it, the graphics driver, or broken game files. Here is how to find yours and fix it, starting with the fixes that work most often.

Quick answer: if FC 27 closes right after EA Javelin anticheat starts, uninstall other anticheats (such as FACEIT), close hardware monitoring and RGB apps, make sure Windows is version 20H1 (build 19041) or newer, then repair the game in the EA app or Steam. If it crashes during matches, update your graphics driver, close overlays, turn Motion Blur off and cap the game at 60 FPS.

Fix 1: Remove what conflicts with EA Javelin anticheat

FC 27 uses EA Javelin anticheat in every mode, not only Ultimate Team. It starts with the game, and if it finds a program it does not trust, it refuses to start, and the game closes with it. This is the most common reason FC 27 "does nothing" when you press Play.

1. Uninstall other anticheats you do not need right now. Many players fixed the problem by removing FACEIT Anti-Cheat: open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, uninstall it, restart your PC, then launch FC 27. EA has not confirmed this conflict, but it is the fix that worked for the most players at launch. You can reinstall FACEIT later.
2. Close hardware monitoring, RGB and tuning apps. EA's own list of incompatible software includes CPU-Z, HWiNFO, Core Temp, Process Explorer, Razer Synapse, Samsung Magician, Voicemod, ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Gaming App and Command Center, GIGABYTE RGB Fusion and EVGA Precision. Close them completely (check the system tray), or uninstall them if the problem continues.
3. Uninstall reWASD and Daemon Tools. EA says to remove reWASD and all DiscSoft software (Daemon Tools, Catch!, Astroburn), then restart. If you use reWASD to remap a controller, Steam Input or PowerToys Keyboard Manager are accepted alternatives.
4. Turn off VPNs and proxies while you play. Some of them are blocked by the anticheat.

Fix 2: Fix EA Javelin anticheat errors

If you see an error message, the fix depends on its text:

Message	What to do
"Your Windows version is not supported"	Update Windows. Javelin needs Windows 10 20H1 (build 19041) or newer. Press Win + R, type winver and press Enter to see your version.
"EA Javelin anticheat has detected incompatible software"	Close or uninstall the program it names (see Fix 1), then restart.
"The application encountered an unrecoverable error"	Restart your PC and try again. If it comes back, turn on Secure Boot in your BIOS.
"Please start the game from the EA app" or "EA anticheat Service has encountered an error"	Update the EA app (or Steam), right-click the EA app and choose Run as administrator, then launch FC 27 from it.
"Invalid system configuration" or "system error"	Reinstall EA Javelin anticheat (below).
Error #701	Open Command Prompt as administrator, run fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\, restart, then reinstall the anticheat.

How to reinstall EA Javelin anticheat: go to C:\Program Files\EA\AC, run EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe, choose FC 27, then uninstall and install it again. Launch the game normally after that.

Fix 3: Repair the game files

A broken or incomplete update often causes a black screen or an instant crash after you press Play.

• EA app: open your Library, click the three dots on FC 27 and choose Repair.
• Steam: right-click FC 27 in your Library, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
• Epic Games Store: click the three dots on FC 27, choose Manage, then Verify.

Make sure you have at least 100 GB of space on the drive, and install the game on an SSD if you can. If repairing does not help, a full uninstall, a restart and a fresh install is the last resort for file problems.

Fix 4: Stop crashes during matches

If FC 27 starts but closes in menus, in Ultimate Team or in the middle of a match, these are the steps EA's community team recommends on the FC 27 technical issues forum, in order:

1. Update Windows (Settings > Windows Update) and your graphics driver from the NVIDIA app or AMD Software. If the crashes started right after a driver update, go back one version.
2. Turn off overlays: Discord, Steam, NVIDIA, the EA app overlay, MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner, and recording software.
3. Temporarily turn off third-party antivirus. If the game works without it, add FC 27 and the EA app as exceptions instead of leaving it off.
4. Turn Motion Blur off and set the Frame Rate Limiter to 60. It lowers the load on your graphics card and processor. Our FC 27 Best PC Settings guide has the full list.
5. Repair the game and the anticheat (Fix 2 and Fix 3).

Fix 5: Fix DXGI DEVICE_HUNG and DEVICE_REMOVED errors

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG and DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED mean the graphics card stopped responding and Windows reset it. It is not always a broken card. Try this:

1. Remove any overclock or undervolt on the graphics card, and set it back to default in MSI Afterburner or AMD Software.
2. Do a clean driver install: in the NVIDIA app or AMD Software, choose the clean or factory reset install option.
3. Lower Rendering Quality and keep an eye on the Estimated VRAM bar in the graphics menu. Going over your card's video memory causes crashes, not just stutter.
4. Cap the frame rate at 60 to stop the card running at full load all the time.
5. Intel Arc users: check the release notes of the newest Intel graphics driver. Intel lists game-specific fixes and known issues there.

If you use a laptop, plug in the charger and make sure FC 27 runs on the dedicated graphics card, not the integrated one: Settings > System > Display > Graphics, then choose FC 27 and High performance.

Fix 6: Check your processor and RAM

Crashes that happen at random, in FC 27 and in other games, can come from the PC itself:

• Update your BIOS. EA recommends updating the CPU microcode through a BIOS update. This matters most for Intel 13th and 14th gen Core processors, which had stability problems fixed by microcode updates.
• Turn off overclocking profiles for the processor, and set power limits back to the motherboard's default profile.

Fix 7: Rule out server and connection problems

If the game stays on "Connecting to EA servers", or Ultimate Team gives errors while the rest works, your PC may be fine:

• Check EA's official channels and EA Help for maintenance or outages.
• Restart your router, and use a cable instead of Wi-Fi if you can.
• Turn off your VPN.

Still crashing?

If nothing works, run the EA app as administrator and launch FC 27 from inside it: some players fixed crashes at "Verifying game environment" this way. If the problem continues, open a case with EA Help and post on the FC 27 technical issues forum with your processor, graphics card, driver version and the exact error.

FAQ

Why does FC 27 close after the anticheat screen?

EA Javelin anticheat found something it does not accept: another anticheat like FACEIT, a hardware monitoring or RGB app, an old Windows version, or a broken anticheat install. Remove the conflicting program, update Windows and reinstall the anticheat.

Does FC 27 need Secure Boot on PC?

Not for every PC. EA only asks you to turn on Secure Boot if you get the "The application encountered an unrecoverable error" message.

Why does FC 27 crash with no error message?

Usually because of the graphics driver, an overlay, settings that are too high for your graphics card, or an unstable overclock. Update the driver, close overlays, turn Motion Blur off and cap the game at 60 FPS.
