Thinking about selling your gaming PC, buying a used one, or upgrading? The first question is always the same: how much is my PC worth? This guide shows you how to find a fair price in a few minutes, what typical gaming PCs sell for in 2026, and how to get the most money when you sell.
Quick answer: a used gaming PC is usually worth about 80 to 100% of what its parts sell for used, and in a mid-range or high-end gaming PC the graphics card is often 40 to 50% of that value. A typical RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5 5600 PC sells for around $580 to $720 in the US in October 2026. To get a price for your exact PC, use our free PC Price Estimate tool.
What typical gaming PCs are worth in 2026
| PC | Worth if you sell it | Cost to build it today |
|---|---|---|
| GTX 1660 Super + Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB, 512 GB SSD | $360 – $450 | $590 – $700 |
| RX 6600 + Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB, 1 TB SSD | $500 – $620 | $760 – $890 |
| RTX 3070 + Core i7-10700, 16 GB, 1 TB SSD | $560 – $700 | $790 – $930 |
| RTX 3060 + Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB, 1 TB SSD | $580 – $720 | $850 – $1,000 |
| RTX 4060 + Core i5-12400, 16 GB, 1 TB SSD | $620 – $780 | $920 – $1,080 |
| RTX 5070 + Ryzen 5 7600, 32 GB DDR5, 1 TB SSD | $1,230 – $1,530 | $1,760 – $2,060 |
"Worth if you sell it" is the typical price of the complete used PC in the US. "Cost to build it today" is what the same PC costs with new parts where they are still sold, or used parts where they are cheaper or no longer made. All figures come from our PC Price Estimate tool, based on eBay sold prices and US store prices checked in October 2026.
Notice the RTX 3060 PC is worth a little more than the RTX 3070 PC, even though the 3070 is faster. That is because used RTX 3060 cards still sell well thanks to their 12 GB of memory, and an older Intel platform like the i7-10700's is worth less.
How to work out what your PC is worth
1. Find out exactly what is inside
You need four things: the graphics card, the processor, the amount of RAM, and the storage. The fastest way: press Ctrl + Shift + Esc and open the Performance tab in Task Manager. Our guide How to Check if Your PC Can Run Any Game shows three ways step by step, or use Check My PC to detect your graphics card in seconds.
2. Price each part
Open the PC Price Estimate tool, pick your graphics card, processor, RAM and storage, and press Estimate price. You get:
- Worth if you sell it: a range for the complete PC, used.
- Cost to build it today: what the same PC costs to buy now.
- Part by part: what each component is worth, so you can see where the value is.
3. Check real sold listings
Our numbers are typical US prices. Before you list your PC, search for your graphics card and processor on eBay and filter by Sold items. Asking prices mean nothing; sold prices tell you what people really pay. Local prices can be quite different outside the US.
What makes a PC worth more (or less)
- The graphics card matters most. In mid-range and high-end gaming PCs it is often 40 to 50% of the value. A newer card with more memory (12 GB or 16 GB) holds its value much better.
- RAM is worth more than usual in 2026. Memory prices rose sharply over the last year because of a memory chip shortage, so 32 GB of DDR5 now adds real value.
- The platform: AM5 and recent Intel boards sell better than older platforms, because the buyer can still upgrade the processor later.
- Brand-name parts and a good power supply make buyers trust the PC more, especially for high-end cards.
- Condition and proof: clean parts, the original boxes, and a screenshot of a benchmark or of Task Manager showing the specs all help you sell faster and closer to the top of the range.
- Prebuilt PCs from big brands often sell for a bit less than custom builds with the same parts, because they use non-standard boards and power supplies.
Should you sell the whole PC or the parts?
Selling parts separately usually brings in more money in total, because the sum of the parts is worth more than a complete used PC. It takes more time, more listings and more shipping.
Selling the complete PC is faster and easier, and it is often the better choice for a mid-range PC that a beginner or a parent might buy ready to play. Expect a price around 80 to 100% of the parts' total.
A common middle ground: sell the graphics card separately (it is the part with the most buyers and the most value), and sell the rest as a complete PC without a card, or with a cheap one.
Selling? Do this first
- Back up your files and sign out of your accounts (Steam, Epic, Microsoft, browsers).
- Reset Windows: Settings > System > Recovery > Reset this PC > Remove everything. This removes your data and keeps Windows activated on that PC.
- Clean the dust from the fans, filters and graphics card. It looks better and runs cooler.
- Take clear photos of the inside and outside, and a screenshot showing the specs.
- List the exact part names (for example "RTX 3060 12GB", not just "Nvidia graphics").
Upgrade or replace?
Compare what your PC is worth with what you want to buy. If one part holds your PC back, usually the graphics card, upgrading it alone is often the best deal. Our tools help you decide:
- Compare Hardware: your current card next to a new one, with prices.
- FPS Estimator: the FPS you would get after the upgrade.
- RTX 50 vs RX 9000: which new card gives the most for your money.

FAQ
How much is my gaming PC worth?
Usually 80 to 100% of what its parts sell for used. For example, an RTX 3060 and Ryzen 5 5600 PC with 16 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD is worth about $580 to $720 in the US in October 2026. Use the PC Price Estimate tool for your exact parts.
Which part of a PC is worth the most?
The graphics card, in almost every gaming PC. In mid-range and high-end PCs it is often 40 to 50% of the total value.
Is it better to sell a PC whole or in parts?
Parts usually bring in more money in total, but take more time. A complete PC sells faster.
Do used PC prices go down over time?
Usually yes, especially when new graphics cards come out. In 2026, rising memory and graphics card prices have slowed that down, so used PCs are holding their value better than usual.
Are the PC Price Estimate prices accurate?
They are typical US prices based on eBay sold listings and store prices, updated every month or two. Real offers depend on the condition, your location and how you sell, so always check recent sold listings too.
