Steam's 5 Most Popular GPUs: FPS in 14 Big Games (2026)
Steam's 5 Most Popular GPUs: FPS in 14 Big Games (2026)

The RTX 5070 is now the most used graphics card on Steam, ahead of the RTX 5060, RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 4060 and RTX 3060, according to Valve's Steam Hardware Survey for September 2026. If you own one of them, or you are about to buy one, the real question is simple: how many FPS will you get in the games you play?

Below are our estimates for all five cards in 14 of the most played PC games, at 1080p and 1440p, made with the FpsGen FPS Estimator.

Quick answer: at 1080p High, every card on this list runs esports games like Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends and PUBG well above 100 FPS. In heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2, the RTX 3060 and RTX 4060 sit around 70 to 85 FPS, the RTX 5070 around 140 to 160. In the most demanding games, like Black Myth: Wukong and Monster Hunter Wilds, only the RTX 5070 stays above 60 FPS without upscaling.

Rank Graphics card Share of Steam users FpsGen score
1 RTX 5070 5.86% 360
2 RTX 5060 4.20% 240
3 RTX 5060 Ti 3.87% 280
4 RTX 4060 3.72% 195
5 RTX 3060 3.54% 170

The share comes from the Steam Hardware Survey. The FpsGen score is the performance score our tools use, where a GTX 1060 6GB = 100. The RTX 4060 Laptop GPU is just behind, in sixth place, with 3.35%.

How we got these numbers

These are estimates from our FPS Estimator, not our own benchmark runs. For each game, the tool starts from the official requirements and from typical published benchmark results for that game, then scales the result to each graphics card. The test PC for every number below:

  • Processor: Ryzen 5 7600 (a common mid-range gaming CPU)
  • Memory: 32 GB, now the most common amount on Steam
  • Settings: High preset, native resolution
  • Off: upscaling (DLSS, FSR), frame generation and ray tracing

Real FPS can be about 10 to 15% higher or lower depending on the map, the scene, your drivers and your exact parts. With DLSS or FSR on, expect a lot more.

FPS at 1080p, High settings

Game RTX 5070 RTX 5060 Ti RTX 5060 RTX 4060 RTX 3060
Counter-Strike 2 400 400 369 300 262
Apex Legends 220 220 209 170 148
PUBG: Battlegrounds 219 215 185 150 131
GTA V Legacy 180 180 180 160 139
Forza Horizon 5 168 165 142 115 100
Call of Duty 160 158 135 110 96
ARC Raiders 157 122 105 85 74
Red Dead Redemption 2 157 122 105 85 74
Cyberpunk 2077 140 115 98 80 70
Marvel Rivals 138 108 92 75 65
Helldivers 2 132 108 92 75 65
Black Myth: Wukong 83 65 55 45 39
Monster Hunter Wilds 83 65 55 45 39
Elden Ring 60 (locked) 60 (locked) 60 (locked) 60 (locked) 60 (locked)

When two cards show the same number, the processor is the limit, not the graphics card: a faster CPU would let the faster card pull ahead. Elden Ring is locked at 60 FPS on PC.

FPS at 1440p, High settings

What each card is good for

RTX 5070: the only card here that is comfortable at 1440p High in almost every game, and above 60 FPS at 1080p even in Black Myth: Wukong and Monster Hunter Wilds without upscaling. With 12 GB of memory and DLSS 4, it is also the best of the five for the next few years.

RTX 5060 Ti: a strong 1080p card and good at 1440p in most games. Take the 16 GB version if you can: it comes in 8 GB and 16 GB, and the extra memory matters in new games with high textures.

RTX 5060: great for 1080p High in esports and most big games. It only has 8 GB of memory, so in the heaviest new games you may need to lower textures, even when the FPS look fine.

RTX 4060: still very good at 1080p: above 100 FPS in esports games and around 75 to 85 in big games like Cyberpunk and RDR2. For the heaviest titles, turn on DLSS.

RTX 3060: five years old and still capable at 1080p: 65 to 75 FPS in most big games on High, and well above 100 in esports. Its 12 GB of memory helps it age better than many newer 8 GB cards.

A note on graphics memory (VRAM)

Our FPS estimates do not include running out of graphics memory. On cards with 8 GB (RTX 5060, RTX 4060, and the 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti), some of the newest games can stutter at High or Ultra textures, especially at 1440p, even when the average FPS looks good. If that happens, lower textures first: it costs almost nothing in FPS.

Check your own PC

Your setup is probably not exactly ours. Our free FPS Estimator lets you pick your graphics card, processor, RAM, resolution and settings, and shows the FPS for each game, the 1% lows and what is holding your PC back. For example: RTX 5070 in Cyberpunk 2077 or RTX 4060 in Call of Duty.
