How to connect a PS5 controller to your PC
With a cable (easiest): plug the DualSense into your PC with a USB-C cable that carries data. Some cheap cables only charge.
With Bluetooth: hold the PS button and the Create button together until the light bar flashes quickly.
On Windows, open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth and pick Wireless Controller.
Open this page in Chrome or Edge and press any button. The tester shows PS5 DualSense (or DualSense Edge) and PlayStation button names.
What to check on a DualSense
L2 and R2: press them slowly. The bar should go smoothly from 0 to 100%. A jump or a trigger that stops early can mean a worn trigger.
Touchpad click and PS button: they show up as extra buttons in the raw values list.
Stick drift: the DualSense is known for drift after heavy use. Put the controller down and run the drift test below the diagram.
Firmware: Sony has an official "Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller" app for Windows. Update it if inputs act strangely.
Adaptive trigger resistance, the haptic motors' fine effects, the microphone and the light bar are not available to web browsers, so no online tester can check them. Test those on a PS5 or in a game that supports them.
Press a button first: browsers only show a controller after an input. If it still does not appear, try a different USB-C cable (some only charge), close Steam and DS4Windows, and restart your browser. Over Bluetooth, remove the controller from Windows Bluetooth devices and pair it again.
Does the PS5 controller tester work with the DualSense Edge?
Yes. The DualSense Edge is detected as its own model. Its back buttons are mapped by the controller itself, so they show up as the buttons you assigned them to.
How do I know if my DualSense has stick drift?
Run the drift test without touching the sticks. A stick that rests more than about 5% away from the centre is drifting. The result also tells you which deadzone would hide it.
Can I test the PS5 controller vibration on PC?
Yes, in Chrome and Edge. Press "Rumble", "Strong motor" or "Weak motor". The DualSense finer haptic effects need a game or a PS5.
Is my PS5 controller still under warranty?
Sony covers the DualSense for a limited period after purchase (usually one year, it depends on your country). If it drifts within that time, contact PlayStation support before opening it.
